What we do:

FriendsPassing provides same day, e-mail notification if a friend's obituary is published in an on-line newspaper. Please see our Prices page for a full listing of the services FriendsPassing provides.

What we do not do:

FriendsPassing does not archive, obtain, nor supply old obituaries. Our service supplies notification of the death of friends, to our subscribers. If your interest is to obtain a past obituary for a deceased friend or relative, please refer to the On-Line Search for Past Obituaries and Vital Records link on the first page of our Resources section for a list of services that may be useful.

What does it cost:

Please see our Prices page for a full list of our subscription prices.

FriendsList Services:

Your subscription level (5, 50, 100, or larger names list) will be searched in on-line obituary listings. Please note that not all on-line newspapers display their paid obituaries. We will attempt to notify you if it is not possible to perform a search for a friend whom you list.

How we do it:

When you subscribe to FriendsPassing.com we provide you with a user account. There you create your personal FriendsList. This allows you to enter each friend's name and the newspaper where you wish us to search. Our search engine takes that list and daily searches for matches in the online obituary source you have selected. If a name is found, we e-mail you immediately to inform you of a possible match.

Newspapers Searched

FriendsPassing has selected daily newspapers in each state that should allow our subscribers to achieve notification of any friend who dies. Our experience is that families will list an obituary in their local newspaper, if they live in or near a small town, and also in a major, metropolitan city newspaper. FriendsPassing will attempt to add newspapers to our search list as requested by our subscribers.

Matching Names:

Due to the similarity of names, and misspelling by funeral homes or newspapers, FriendsPassing regrets that a subscriber may receive false alarms. It will remain the responsibility of the subscriber to verify that a reported deceased person was, or was not, a person on his FriendsList.

Privacy:

FriendsPassing will not sell nor supply your personal information, e-mail address, nor your listing of Friends to any other party or service.

Additional Services:

As many newspapers copyright protect their detail obituary information and/or charge a fee for access to it, a FriendsPassing subscription will only provide information that is in the public domain. FriendsPassing will provide notification that a death notice has appeared for a listed friend in a specific newspaper. As an additional service, upon request, FriendsPassing will obtain a published obituary, pay any newspaper charge for that published obituary, and supply that information to our subscriber.

Guarantee:

FriendsPassing will refund the unused portion of your subscription if you become dissatisfied with FriendsPassing's performance for any reason. This refund will be 100% during the first month after the beginning (or renewal) of a subscription. During the 12th month of a subscription it will be 1/12th of the total subscription cost.
